HILLSDALE PAELLA DINNER
Join us November 9th as we once again introduce Hillsdale to Paella the proper Spanish way…by breaking all state records and hosting the largest Paella dinner in Oregon! Utilizing a 5′ paella pan with a capacity of serving over 300 people, this fundraiser for Hillsdale Main Street and the Neighborhood House Food Box Program will put Hillsdale on the foodie map!
This year, we will be enjoying the creative culinary “touches” from local Portland chef, Greg Schwab of Seasons & Regions as the lead chef. Greg will be joined by local Chef Ted Coonfield making the vegan paella, Salvador Molly’s catering company, who will be creating tapas, and renowned author and baker Julie Richardson with Baker & Spice who will be sharing their delicious breads and desserts. In addition, you will be sent to Spain with the amazing guitar talent of Scott Head.
Paella is a traditional Valencian rice dish including saffron, shrimp, chicken, sausage and green vegetables, cooked in a large round pan (a paella) outdoors for large groups of people. It has become a custom at mass gatherings in the Valencian Community to prepare enormous paellas and compete for who can serve the largest paella. Bringing this tradition to the Pacific NW, Hillsdale Main Street will be providing paella for 320, with both traditional and vegan options, making the Hillsdale Paella Dinner the largest paella in Oregon.
Thanks to our sponsors A-Boy, Wyse Kadish LLP, Food Front, Baker and Spice Bakery, and Salvador Molly’s, diners will join us Saturday, September 28th, 2013 for this not to be missed extravaganza! A portion of the proceeds will benefit Neighborhood House’s Food Box Program serving over 14,000 low-income children and seniors each year. Remaining proceeds will benefit Hillsdale Main Street, a program dedicated to the revitalization of the Hillsdale business district, making Hillsdale a better place to live, learn, work and shop.
(Please note: early bird prices ended September 15th.)
Volunteers Are Needed!
Please join us in creating a delightful experience for our supporters…and enjoy the tastes of Spain, too. That’s right, we couldn’t let our volunteers to go home on an empty stomach! All volunteering during the event will be treated to the same feast as the guests. Plus, all volunteers will be entered into the Volunteer Raffle for a basket bulging with goodies donated by Hillsdale businesses.
