Can you envision attractive lighting transforming Hillsdale? We have a $10K grant that we’re thinking to spend on district-wide lighting improvements. But, it’s going to take a few more minds to see this project thru. Activities: Assisting in the creation of guidelines/projects list that will be included in the storefront improvement program. The Hillsdale Main Street Design Committee is excited to announce the installation of their first project – landscaping strips along Capitol Highway! Long planting strips were added to the street-side of the sidewalks surrounding most current street trees. These planting strips were filled with water-resistant, but aesthetically pleasing plants. The Hillsdale Main Street Design Committee has been working hard to create a master plan that identifies focus areas and projects they would like to work on for the next 1-10 years. The Portland Main Street Program worked hard over the past year to create a “District Design Handbook” meant to assist all Portland districts create good design decisions.
