Hillsdale
The Hillsdale town Center, one of 13 regionally-defined town centers in the Portland Metropolitan region, is located along Capitol Highway in the heart of the Hillsdale neighborhood in southwest Portland. The neighborhoods surrounding the town center have a population of approximately 1,600 residents in 760 households, and the town center commercial establishments host nearly 1,400 jobs. (2009 data)
In addition to a vibrant neighborhood, a successful commercial area, and dedicated citizens, the town center also boasts frequent transit service, large and easily accessible open spaces, a new public library, high-performing public schools with growing enrollments, a successful and growing farmers’ market, and an extensive pedestrian trails program.
In 2010, Hillsdale was selected to participate in the Main Street Program, being chosen for both its strong presence and potential through economic revitalization and preservation. The Hillsdale Main Street Program was initiated by the Hillsdale Community Foundation : “Our mission is to make Hillsdale a better place to live, learn, work and shop by fostering community building and by raising and distributing resources.”
